International Summer School 2021 has started in MGSU

International Summer School 2021 has started in MGSU
On August 16th, 2021, the opening of International Summer School “20th Century Mass-Housing RE3 (RE-valorization/RE-vitalization/RE-storation)” took place in Moscow State University of Civil Engineering. Summer School is dedicated to typology, construction and social policy in housing construction of Moscow of the 20th century. MGSU hosts “20th Century Mass-Housing RE3” summer school for the third time in its history. This year MGSU has welcomed 28 students from Germany, the United States, Italy, Russia, and other countries.

Vice-Rector Vera Galishnikova has greeted the participants with welcome words and wished them to have enjoyable and productive time in the city of Moscow.


On the first day, the students were able to get to know each other, the university, and the lecturers closer. (The participants visited several laboratories of the university scientific-technical complex.)

The excursion to the laboratory of aerodynamic and aeroacoustic tests of building structures was conducted by the head of the laboratory Olga Poddaeva. The excursion to the Research Institute for construction materials and technologies was conducted by engineer Anton Bugaev. The excursion to the Laboratory for tests of building structures of materials and products of Research Institute of Experimental Mechanics was conducted by head of the laboratory Vladimir Kakusha.


The participants will face two weeks of intensive work ahead. During workshops, students will prepare team projects on comprehensive reconstruction of typical mass-housing buildings, built in Moscow over the last century.
By the end of the summer school the presentation of student projects based on results of the course will take place on August 27th at the Central House of Architects in Moscow.
